Degree Candidacy
Degree Candidacy
A graduate program may require students to qualify for continuing master's or doctoral status based on the degree candidacy requirements of the student's graduate program. Degree candidacy requirements vary from program to program. Refer to the Policies section of your graduate program for any specific degree candidacy requirements.
If applicable to the program, students can apply for Degree Candidacy via the myWCU portal.
Procedure for Application to Degree Candidacy
- Every student must file an application for admission to degree candidacy with the Dean of The Graduate School. Forms are available on The Graduate School website.
- When the application has been evaluated by the department concerned and by the Dean of The Graduate School, a letter of acceptance or rejection will be sent to the student.
- Upon notice of acceptance, degree candidates must confer with their advisors to continue with their previously established program of study.
Students must be admitted to degree candidacy prior to registering for comprehensive exams and before registering for thesis credits.
